I can state unequivocally that I am electronically challenged. Just ask my husband who is the technology wizard at my house. He has to answer my stupid computer questions as well as try to teach an old dog (that would be me) new tricks with e-mail. It can be painful, take my word for it.
Last month I learned how to send photos over the internet as e-mail attachments. My first attempt was a disaster because I tried to teach myself and when I asked my husband about it…well, to paraphrase, there was a better way. When he showed me the right way, I was ready to e-mail about 100 photos of the quilt show to Becky Kelso at Eagle Creek Quilt Shop. I became an e-mail maniac. After about six e-mails, Becky gently asked me to please stop. I was so proud of myself that Becky’s request didn’t faze me one little bit.
Then I told my husband that I wanted to create a photo-sharing webpage showing my quilts. I asked him a simple question…do I just e-mail photos to this certain website? I swear I saw him wince. He patiently sat me down at the computer and walked me through the steps to upload photos from our computer files to a website called Webshots. Of course, I hit a few wrong keys along the way. Honestly, I don’t do this on purpose to torture him.
Once I learned that process, I was really on my way. Next, I decided to upload the quilt show photos to the CAQC site at Yahoo. Go ahead and join this group if you want reminders of our great show. I joined about two years ago without having to ask my husband. It wasn’t hard. I don’t remember how I did it, but it wasn’t hard.
Have I mentioned that I’m dangerous with a little bit of knowledge? Look out cyberspace. I’m not done with the computer yet. I’m thinking about making Valentine cards from pictures of my quilts. For mother’s day, my mom would love a set of coasters with images of quilts made by her beloved daughter. Wait, there’s more…
